Stir-Fried Broccoli

Serves 4

1 clove garlic, minced
1-inch cube fresh ginger, peeled and minced
1/8 tsp crushed dried red chili pepper, or to taste
1 large bunch broccoli, divided into small florets (save stems for another use)
3 T water
1 T dry sherry
2 T low-sodium soy sauce

Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and chili pepper over moderately high heat until golden, about 3 minutes. Add broccoli and continue stir-frying until it is bright green, about 2 minutes. Pour in the water, sherry, and soy sauce. Cover and steam for about 5 minutes. Toss before serving.

Suggestion:

  • Toss in a spoonful of toasted sesame seeds just before serving.
