Serves 8

1 lemon, cut in 6 or 8 wedges
1 C unsweetened orange juice
1/3 C sugar
6 C diced cantaloupe, puréed
2 C cold water

Bring lemon wedges, orange juice, and sugar to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Boil gently for about 5 minutes. Strain the syrup into a bowl and let cool; discard lemon. Force cantaloupe purée through a fine sieve into a bowl. Combine syrup, purée, and 2 C of cold water, stirring well. Serve cold or over ice.
