Pizza Crust

Serves 8

1 T sugar
1 T canola oil
1 C boiling water
1 pkg (1/4 oz) dry yeast softened in 1/4 C lukewarm water
1-1/2 C all-purpose flour
1-1/2 C whole wheat flour

Combine sugar, salt, oil, and boiling water in large mixing bowl. Stir until sugar dissolves. Cool to lukewarm and add yeast. Stir flours together. Add 1-1/2 C flour mixture and beat until smooth. Add enough of remaining flour to make a dough that is easy to handle, Transfer to a floured work surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Stretch dough into a 12-inch pizza pan. Cover and let rise about 15 minutes. Use sauces, toppings, and cheeses as desired. Bake at 425° for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned.


  • Add 1 clove minced garlic and 2 tsp oregano or basil to the dry ingredients.
  • Add 1/2 C freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the dry ingredients.
